Old street Petrushka is humpbacked, long-nosed, in cap with little bell personage. He strikes everybody, who deserves it by his cudgel. Royal Corporal, horse thief Gipsy, charlatan Doctor, and even Death are among them. He dreams about marriage with Matryona Ivanovna. He is pacifist, but he has no objection to joke at his friend Narrator. Petrushka doesn’t lose heart, and therefore he lives forever.
